Dare to Wear – The Art of White

Form-fitting and sleek is what this fall season is about. Color has always been a fame to claim – thought to elicit individuality and uniqueness. However, what about the clean palette of the color white and its infinite styling potential?

Fall has transpired as the season for bright solids paired with distinctive patterns. Yet, white has always been identified as a pure, and in some instances, a self-conscious color. Aside from the inconspicuous feelings of the color white, there is simplicity to its nature.

White is a color that is very forgiving, no matter the body type. It gives affirmation to the rule that “less is better.” It is a color that gives way to true fashion, allowing room for bold accessory pairing or accent colors. I have always been a fan of the sleek look married with bold accessories and eye-catching shoes. However, I have always been mindful of the time and place, in which white is worn.

The function or environment, in which you chose to wear white, is important to consider. This allows you to better understand how to wear white. Perhaps, this is why white has gained its reputation of being unsuitable. Do you pair your white skinny jeans with a white tunic and an accent waist belt, or with a grey blazer and a white blouse? Maybe, you ditch the skinnies, altogether and wear a white sweater dress and sheer tights with knee boots.

If incorporating white into your wardrobe is too distressing, try adding lighter shades of color. Lighter shades of color can substitute for white anytime you are considering physique-slimming ensembles. Pale colors, shades of nude and tans can do wonders at smoothing edges.

White is not only chic, but when paired with the right elements it can be seen as very polished or fashion-forward. Many worry about the stark shade “drowning them out.” If this is so, consider altering your hairstyle. Not necessarily the color, but the contour. Opt for a smoother, more chic hairstyle -one with a straight-edge cut, a bone-straight flat ironed look or more defined waves or curls. Whatever the selection, ensure it fits your face and personality.

Fashion is a little strenuous for some, because they try too hard to fit in with the latest trends. Take your time to enjoy. Fashion is in a revolving door – trends will circle back around. When trends resurface, be two steps ahead by adding your own flare. Fashion is truly yours – own it!
